Wanderlost shot using Cinevate Brevis Lens Adapter

Producer and Director of Photography, Dan Judson proposed using the Cinevate Brevis 35mm lens adapter with a Panasonic HD camera, to shoot Wanderlost. Dan gives the following assessment, “I wanted Wanderlost to have a dark, gritty, realistic feel and at the same time be able to summon emotion with every shot. We used a mixture of Leica and Zeiss primes and Canon zooms as well as a few odd damaged lenses and macros for special effect. Much of the story takes place at night and in dark places and we knew that properly representing the mood of these scenes was essential, so we lit everything very minimally and sourcy. The Cinevate Brevis was excellent in low light and was an invaluable tool.”

Wanderlost Banned in NYC!

Wanderlost has been banned from premiering our trailer at the Rooftop Films IFP Lab Showcase Screening at Fulton Ferry park. The film’s trailer has been deemed too subversive and graphic for public display. Also banned are The Tested, Au Pair Kansas, and Perfection. Don’t worry though, you can catch this now infamous foursome of films after the official screenings at Galapagos Art Space. Don’t miss the world premiere of the Wanderlost trailer!

WANDERLOST Invited To Attend Independent Film Week in NYC/ Trailer Unveiling

The Wanderlost cast and crew are anticipating another wonderful week with the IFP at the 31st annual Independent Film Week. Hosted by the Independent Feature Project the week is the East Coasts oldest and largest independent film event. The Wanderlost team will be meeting with producers, funders, distributors, broadcasters, sales agents, and film festival programmers. While at Independent Film Week the Wanderlost crew will be unveiling the new trailer for the film that has just been cut at a the Rooftop Films IFP Filmmaker Labs Sneak Preview industry on Sunday, September 20th. The trailer will also be released simultaneously right here on the Wanderlost site!

Eyesore Studios in the Heart of Asheville’s River Arts District

Wanderlost was shot at Eyesore Studios located at The Wedge Building in the heart of Asheville’s unique River Arts District. Co-writer/Director David Kabler says, “The River Arts District has provided a backdrop that has added so much to creating the dark fantastical world of urban decay presented in Wanderlost.” The Studio has a professional editing bay, screening room, space for sets, green screen, and a full kitchen and bath. The space is available as a home base for productions in Western North Carolina by the day, week or month.

Green Filmmaking: The Art Of Salvaged Materials

The sets of Wanderlost were built using mostly salvaged materials that reduce our projects impact on the environment. Our films crew believe in being good stewards to the earth and feel that creating art from waste is one way to achieve the goal of sustainability.

WANDERLOST Celebrates Picture Lock

The Wanderlost production team is incredibly excited to announce the milestone acheivement of picture lock. Co-writer/director David Kabler says, “Attending the IFP Filmmakers Workshop in NYC inspired so many ideas and energized my team of producers. Now that we have locked our picture we can focus on the finishing of Wanderlost.” Currently the film has moved into the designing of the soundscape and music that will bring the films dark landscape and story to life.

WANDERLOST Accepted Into IFP Film Mentorship

Wanderlost has been chosen by the Independent Feature Project to participate in the 2009 Filmmaker Workshop in NYC. The IFP has been helping indie film since 1979 and is the nations oldest and largest organization of independent filmmakers. Each year the IFP chooses 10 narrative and 10 documentary feature length films to mentor and participate in both the IFP Filmmakers Workshop and Independent Film Week. The Wanderlost production team is honored to be chosen this year and is excited about joining the community of filmmakers supported by the IFP.
